M-30

Improvement of the M-30. Junction of Costa Rica St and Jose María Soler Square

The project aims to solve the important retention and collapses of traffic that occur in the junction of Costa Rica St, located in the Northeast section of the M-30.

The junction connects the M-30 with the streets Costa Rica, Alfonso XIII, Arturo Soria, Federico Salmon and Gran Vía de Hortaleza, through a roundabout regulated by traffic lights, the José María Soler Square.

The works include an underpass under the roundabout. This underpass collects all the traffic from the M-30, Gran Vía Hortaleza and Arturo Soria St to the street Costa Rica in both directions.

This tunnel eliminates the main traffic currently accessing the roundabout, which its central islet can recover for ornamental purposes.

This configuration provides a tunnel of 440 m in length, of which 270 meters occupy the entrance ramps and the central 170 meters are buried.

The tunnel section includes two lanes for sense of movement of 3 m in width, separated 1.50 m, and with lateral sidewalks of 0.75 m. To these lanes is added a third (entrance to Madrid), after the confluence with the coming branches from the M-30, and a deceleration lane to access the branch of the M-30 south exit.

The tunnel runs through technology "cut and cover", open through the implementation of side screens in the areas of ramps complemented by a slab of covering in the area of tunnel.

The project also includes complete urbanization, both roundabout and the streets affected by the underpass, including the renovation of the pavement and sidewalks, lighting and street furniture.

Improvement of the M-30. Junction of N-III. (Madrid)

The project is included in the improvement actions carried out by the city of Madrid on the arterial road to M-30, known as "Calle 30 ".

These actions are aimed at improving this ring road, tunnelling certain sections of this route and improvement of their junctions, improving mobility, eliminating barriers and, at the same time, releasing and recovering in some cases a space for the mobility of pedestrians.

The aim of this particular project is to improve the circulation in the junction of the M-30 and the highway A-3 with the construction of two tunnels.

The first of these tunnels is 672 m in length, and connects the M-30 with the A-3 in the sense of exiting Madrid.

The second tunnel is 1,110 m in length, direction to Madrid, and starts in the A-3, passes under the M-30, forking later in two separate tunnels with a single lane, connecting, one surface with the Ciudad de Barcelona Avenue and the other with the South bypass tunnel.

The two tunnels are projected with a section of type "cut and cover" continuous screen, and deck slab executed "in situ", embedded in the screens, as well as an intermediate slab.

In both tunnels treatments of improvement of the ground are projected through columns of jet grouting due the geotechnical conditions of the alluvial and its reduced cover.

The project also includes five emergency exits, pumping stations and facilities of the tunnels: electricity, lighting, ventilation, protection against fire, loudspeaker systems, signalling, access control, communication and control.
